Terms & policies
Kanga prides itself on being flexible as reasonably possible to ensure that everyone receives their proper value for lesson fees.
Junior Group lessons, private/semi-private lessons
These sessions are generally weekly commitments for a term of lessons (terms generally running in line with public school term dates), notwithstanding mid term bookings are welcome at pro-rata fees.
Makeup sessions are always available for sessions cancelled by Kanga due to weather or other reasons.
For sessions cancelled by Kanga, customer credits to future lessons and refunds are available if makeup sessions cannot be arranged.
For Junior Group lessons, sessions missed for any reason can be made up by attending a similar level lesson on another day on request. When sessions are cancelled by Kanga for weather or other reasons, an extra session will usually run that week or the following week which players are welcome to attend (in addition to the option of attending an alternate regular weekly session).
For private lesson cancellations at players’ request, we ask for 8 hours or more notice to reschedule the session. (Late cancellations do not give opportunity to refill the schedule).
For late cancellations for private/semi-private sessions, while rescheduling is not available (aside from exceptional circumstances) credit will be offered for future group lessons or holiday programs at the value of sessions missed.
Rescheduled lessons/makeup lessons/lesson credit can always be redeemed by other siblings or family members.
Semi-private, self-organised regular cancellations
For semi-private and organised regular group sessions that go ahead when one or more players cannot make it, the full fee needs to be charged to all regular enrolments (excepting situations where we know in advance that students cannot make certain dates and we invoice accordingly).
For players who miss semi-privates or organised shared group sessions that go ahead, credit will be offered for future group lessons or holiday programs at the value of sessions missed.
We would note that in the long term we find semi-private cancellations tend to balance out. Players may lose value when they are the one to miss but in turn receive greater value when they receive a private or lower ratio session when the other player/s misses.
For semi-private cancellations to be rescheduled we ask for 8 hours or more of notice to be provided. For cancellations of less than 8 hours group credit or holiday program credit can be provided.
Adult group classes/Friday afternoon competition
For sessions on the pass system, including Cardio groups and the Wednesday 6.30 to 7.30pm skill session as well as the Friday afternoon junior competition, attendance is more casual and weekly commitment is not required. Players can pay as they go each session, or purchase a 5/10 session pass with no expiry, sessions only being deducted from the pass when attendance is marked.
Wet weather/extreme heat
We make every effort to go ahead with lessons when safe to do so. We are blessed with courts that drain exceptionally well as well as having roller sponges to effectively dry them, allowing safe play sometimes only a short time after heavy rain events.
We reserve the right to cancel sessions when conditions and/or court surface becomes unsafe (most often due to slippery conditions or rain).
We message students by text message if cancellation is needed and aim to do so within 30 minutes of lesson start times – unfortunately this is not always possible with Melbourne weather! We always provide makeup lesson opportunities and customer credits/refunds if lessons cannot be rescheduled because of us cancelling sessions.
For hot weather, we will suspend sessions if temperatures reach 38 degrees or higher according to the current BoM temperature for Camberwell. We may also suspend lessons at lower temperatures for example if conditions are particularly humid or sunny.
We employ a range of hot weather precautionary measures when lessons go ahead at temperatures above 30 degrees – modified activities with less movement, frequent drink breaks, option of a refreshing spray with the court hose, icy pole offered at the end of sessions. Please let us know if you do not want your child to be offered icy poles on hot days.
For private/semi-private sessions, if classes go ahead and you do not attend, we cannot provide rescheduled sessions (only credit for groups sessions and holiday clinic sessions).
